MobileMe Control Panel is required to set up and manage MobileMe syncing and manage iDisk settings on a Windows PC.

The MobileMe Control Panel 1.3 update delivers faster syncing of contacts and calendars between MobileMe and Microsoft Outlook.

With this update, contacts and calendars automatically sync whenever a change is made in Outlook, and likewise when a change is made on the web or from another device. A new tray icon also indicates whenever an automatic sync is in progress.

MobileMe is the online service from Apple that automatically keeps your email, contacts, calendar, bookmarks, and more in sync across multiple computers, your iPhone, iPod touch, and a suite of web apps on www.me.com.

MobileMe is available in English, French, German, and Japanese.

While viruses for Symbian and Windows Mobile currently seem more like proof-of-concept studies, the Windows Mobile platform offers malware writers who already know Windows a very similar environment. Some may call it a hype, but that's what people said about spyware 5 years ago as well, and our opinion is that it's better to protect yourself before something happens than to do it afterwards.

Spybot-S&D for Windows Mobile uses a lightweight version of the detection engine of Spybot-S&D for Windows to detect threats for Windows Mobile and Symbian both, the later because Bluetooth worms could spread over OS borders, and while they would not perform on an incompatible OS, they would still waste precious space on the device.

Installation instructions: Please download the version for your device (there are different version for Pocket PCs and Smartphones) from our download page, then copy the file to your device through ActiveSync. Open the devices file manager and click on the file, and the installation will start. If you want to download it on the device itself, just point it at http://mobile.spybot.info/ and download and install from there. After the installation, you should have a Spybot-S&D icon in your programs group.

Phone Recorder 1.6 Join and record an ongoing telephone conversation I wrote Phone Recorder because I didn't want to pay $49.95 for EzPhone Recorder.  Phone  Recorder doesn't have much of a user interface -- just two buttons: "Start recording/Stop  recording" and "Exit".  When you click on "Start recording", Phone Recorder will join an  ongoing phone conversation on the same line, and the button label will change to "Stop  recording".  The conversation is stored as a .wav file in the same folder as the Phone  Recorder executable (.exe) file.  Phone Recorder runs under Windows XP SP2, and you  need to have a dial-up modem that has voice capability installed on your computer.  Some  dial-up modems that have worked well for me are the Rosewill USB RNX-56USB, the  Zoom 3025C, the AOpen FM56-PX, and the Best Data 56HP92-PCT.  The Rosewill is an  external modem that plugs into a USB port, and the others are internal PCI modems.  Be sure  to tell the other party or parties on the line that you are recording the conversation if it is  legally required to do so.

Call Screener 1.7 Block unwanted telephone calls Call Screener is software that blocks unwanted phone calls.  It runs under Windows XP SP2, and  requires a dial-up modem that has voice and caller ID capability to be installed on your computer.   When a call is blocked, Call Screener speaks the message contained in the ZapMessage.wav file  to the caller.  An example ZapMessage.wav file is included in the kit that comes in the download. Documentation is also included in the kit.  Some dial-up modems that have worked well for me  are the Rosewill USB RNX-56USB, the Zoom 3025C, the AOpen FM56-PX, and the  Best Data 56HP92-PCT.  The Rosewill is an external modem that plugs into a USB port, and  the others are internal PCI modems.
