Read Aloud is a free Text to Speech software that reads aloud text from various sources, especially from The Web. Read Aloud provides webpage text reading, which no other Text To Speech software provides (for free). It has an inbuilt Web Text Extractor, support to RSS Feeds Reading, a Raw File Mode a Clipboard Watcher and a standard Web Browser.

The moving
There is some windows, which have not a title bar, and you need use long key combination to became window in moving state. By AltMove you will do it by single dragging. Linux users find it like linux featured window dragging by key Alt and left mouse button (from this feature program get name).

Usually in development process we need to test reaction of program to different messages and reaction of program in different state. This manager let you change states of winodws without code changing. Also this program can change common view of desktop and some of windows to make working process more comfortable.

Product Key Informer as the name states will retrieve product key information regarding the operating system.

It is mainly a tool for Network Administrators who want to keep in order the product key info for their network terminals organized.

But also it can be used by the simple or standalone user to store vital product key info in of HD crash or data loss.

The object of this game is to move all your pegs in the counter clockwise direction until they are all at the lower right region, they can then be removed from the board. The first player to remove all the pegs win. To move the pegs, roll a pair of dice first, the numbers shown on the dice are the number of steps you can move. For example, if 3 and 6 are shown, then you can move one peg three steps, and another peg (or the same peg) 6 steps. If you roll a double, then you can use each die twice, making 4 moves. For example if you roll a double 5, then you can move 4 pegs by 5 steps. You can move your pegs to a column if it is empty or if it is occupied by your pegs, but you cannot move your pegs to columns occupied by 2 or more of your opponent's pegs. If a column is only occupied by 1 of your opponent's pegs, then you can land on this column and knock off the opponent peg. The knocked off peg will have to start from the beginning again. If some of your pegs are knocked off, then you must move them first. You cannot move other pegs unless you no longer have knocked off pegs. You must make as many moves from a roll as possible, for example if you rolled 6 and 3, and you can move 6 or 3 but not both, then you must move 6.

RoundCal is a unique program that generates round calendars. Perceiving the year as "round" is something that several ancient civilizations have done, sadly though our calendars of today are usually presented as sets of rectangular grids... As the Earth revolves around the Sun in an almost perfect circular orbit, our seasons and months can be represented as circular arches on it. RoundCal is bringing this concept to your desktop and it has interesting practical uses.

It stores calendars in bitmaps, highlights dates of interest and can illustrate a 52 week calendar (almost a full year) in a round shape.

Although, this is a beta version (for a number of years now), it does work fully. Sadly it does not contain any help, but following the menu commands should be intuitive enough. Please report any bugs and/or suggestions!

The author says...
It must have been summer of '98, when I got the idea of the Round Calendar while waiting for my flight at the old Athens airport "Ellinikon". I was on my way to Leros, the island I spend most of my military service as a sailor.
The concept was so intense that I immediatelly took my laptop out of my bag and started coding. A few minutes later I had a vector drawing of my first round calendar.
A few days later, while still in Leros I had a fully working version, which I would use for drawing a calendar on my Windows wallpaper. Every day RoundCal would run on Windows start-up and gray-out one more day of my service...

This is what I wrote back then, being so excited about it :-) :
"The WORLD'S first ROUND CALENDAR!!! The biggest innovation since the cheeseburger, also rounded, is this kind of calendar. A rounded calendar which stores bitmaps, highlights dates of interest and print a one year calendar in a round shape. This unique perception of a calendar, is compact, usefull and absolutely amazing! We are sorry, NO HELP currently available. Just follow the menu commands. Please report any bugs and/or suggestions!"

CyberShredder is a quick, safe and handy utility that lets you erase confidential files from your computer permanently. Normal file deletion will remove a file's directory entry and allocation table information. The actual disk clusters that contained the file's data remains intact on your hard disk and can be recovered later. CyberShredder overwrites the space occupied from a file with random data and erases the file, so an unerase utility will never be able to recover it.

CyberShredder's simple interface will help you get rid of confidential data permanently. It deletes files using three different shredding methods, including the NSA approved seven-pass file deletion method.

Please note that files and directories erased by CyberShredder can not be recovered using an undelete program. Make sure you use it with care. We recommend that you learn how to use the program by testing its behaviour with some test data first.

WildRename is a multi-file renaming application for Microsoft Windows users.
Its very simple user interface helps you build and perform many file renaming operations one-by-one or in batches.

In brief, WildRename helps you:

• convert filenames to lower/upper case or normalise case (Capitalize First Letter)
• add or remove strings of characters from filenames

FolderIcons is an MS Windows customizing tool, that helps you change the icons of your file system's folders. It works by simply adding a desktop.ini file in a folder, then changes the folder's attributes, as described in Microsoft's Customizing Folders with Desktop.ini MSDN article.

FolderIcons automates this process making it very easy to change your folders' iconds, revert them back to original, recursively asign the same icon to a whole folder tree, etc. Compatible with icons in DLLs, EXEs, ICLs and literaly any file that contains icons.

Bitmap Font Writer is a free program that let you draw text using a font where each character is drawn in a bitmap file.

If you've drawn your own bitmapped font in for example Photoshop, you are forced to manually Copy & Paste each character in order to combine them into a word. This gets pretty tedious if you're doing buttons for a website, as an example. The purpose of Bitmap Font Writer is to make this procedure smoother. By arranging your font in ASCII order and put markers to define the width of each character you may load the image into Bitmap Font Writer which the combines the characters for you. Then you simply copy everything to the clipboard to get it back into your painting program.

VNCPassView is a small utility that recover the passwords stored by the VNC tool. It can recover 2 of passwords: password stored for the current logged-on user (HKEY_CURRENT_USER in the Registry), and password stored for the all users.

This utility is released as freeware. You are allowed to freely distribute this utility via floppy disk, CD-ROM, Internet, or in any other way, as long as you don't charge anything for this. If you distribute this utility, you must include all files in the distribution package, without any modification !

VNCPassView is also available in other languages. In order to change the language of VNCPassView, download the appropriate language zip file, extract the 'VNCPassView_lng.ini', and put it in the same folder that you Installed VNCPassView utility.

With StaxRip you can easily convert your DVD's, DVB captures and many more formats into MPEG-4 with codecs like x264, XviD and DivX. As a open source application StaxRip is completely free.

This is a simple application aiming to help administrators to get rid of time-killing programs. The Process Blocker kills any process contained in its list so you can restrict usage of any other software. It is easy to install and easy to use. Project is still in development but usable enough.

The aim of this project is to create an ideal administration tool which can prevent running any application in Windows. The development process is divided into a series of stages, each of them being indicated in the roadmap section. The project is targeted at the corporate audience and, among other things, sets a goal to develop powerful features for remote administration of all domain computers at once. The project started on October 20, 2008.

The tool under development is not a native process blocker so far -- currently we have an automated process killer instead. It means that the running of an application is not blocked and a little time (less than one second) can pass until the tool kills a process. Thus one cannot prevent running some small utility requiring no user interaction and doing its job fast enough. Detailed information on how to install and use Process Blocker can be found in the instructions section.

True, if you use our Digital Clip Factory application to create those "Ken-Burns" effects you like and export it to a compatilbe Windows Media File. Our Digital Clip Factory application is freeware / donationware. Just drag some pictures to the timeline and some audio and off you go. The pan and zoom effect are completely adjustable and can be stretched and cropped to your taste.

Booklib is a program which you can use to track and organize all your books on the Pocket PC.

Desktop Graffitist is a small program that enables you to spray paint your desktop, and anything else that might appear on screen. DG is designed for recreation and creativity, and can be used to relieve office stress and boredom.

Aside from the added bonus of allowing you to vent on that stupid monthly report or the latest homework assignment, the program is also good for leaving messages on other people's computers that they can't miss (love notes, hate notes, grocery lists and art/graffiti/vandalism, ...).

After watching a video in a Web site, you may want to save the video file into your local disk for playing it offline in the future. If the video file is stored in your browser's cache, this utility can help you to extract the video file from the cache and save it for watching it in the future.
It automatically scans the entire cache of Internet Explorer and Mozilla-based Web browsers (Including Firefox) and finds all video files that are currently stored in it. It allows you to easily copy the cached video files into another folder for playing/watching them in the future. If you have a movie player that is configured to play flv files, it also allows you to play the video directly from your browser's cache.

Using VideoCacheView

VideoCacheView doesn't require any installation process or additional DLL files. In order to start using it, simply run the executable file (VideoCacheView.exe)
After running VideoCacheView, it scan the cache folders of your Internet Explorer and Mozilla browsers, as well as the temporary folder of Windows. Wait 5 - 30 seconds until the scanning process is finished, and the main window of VideoCacheView should display all the video files that are currently in cache.

After the video list is displayed, you can use one of the following options, assuming that the video files are stored in the cache ('In Cache' = Yes):

• Play Selected File: Allows you to play the video file directly from the cache, assuming that you have a video player that is configured to play .flv files.
• Copy Selected Files To: Allows to copy the video files from the cache into another folder, so you will be able to play them in the future.

If you have a video file that is not stored in the cache ('In Cache' = No), you can use the 'Open Download URL In Browser' option (F8) in order to download the video file. You can also use the 'Copy Download URLs' option (Ctrl+U) to copy the download URLs to the clipboard, and then use then in your browser or in other download software.
Be aware that some Web sites may not allow you to download a video file in this way.

IECookiesView is a small utility that displays the details of all cookies that Internet Explorer stores on your computer.
In addition, It allows you to do the following actions:

• Sort the cookies list by any column you want, by clicking the column header. A second click sorts the column in descending order.
• Find a cookie in the list by specifying the name of the Web site.
• Select and delete the unwanted cookies.
• Save the cookies to a readable text file.
• Copy cookie information into the clipboard.
• Automatically refresh the cookies list when a Web site sends you a cookie.
• Display the cookies of other users and from other computers.
• Open the IECookiesView utility directly from Internet Explorer toolbar.
• Change the content of a cookie !
• Export your cookies to Netscape/Mozilla cookies file.
• Block specific Web sites from using cookies through the cookies blocking mechanism of Internet Explorer 6.0.

SmartSniff allows you to capture TCP/IP packets that pass through your network adapter, and view the captured data as sequence of conversations between clients and servers. You can view the TCP/IP conversations in Ascii mode (for text-based protocols, like HTTP, SMTP, POP3 and FTP.) or as hex dump. (for non-text base protocols, like DNS)
SmartSniff provides 3 methods for capturing TCP/IP packets :

1. Raw Sockets (Only for Windows 2000/XP or greater): Allows you to capture TCP/IP packets on your network without installing a capture driver. This method has some limitations and problems.
2. WinPcap Capture Driver: Allows you to capture TCP/IP packets on all Windows operating systems. (Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista) In order to use it, you have to download and install WinPcap Capture Driver from this Web site. (WinPcap is a free open-source capture driver.)
   This method is generally the preferred way to capture TCP/IP packets with SmartSniff, and it works better than the Raw Sockets method.
3. Microsoft Network Monitor Driver (Only for Windows 2000/XP/2003): Microsoft provides a free capture driver under Windows 2000/XP/2003 that can be used by SmartSniff, but this driver is not installed by default, and you have to manually install it, by using one of the following options:
• Option 1: Install it from the CD-ROM of Windows 2000/XP according to the instructions in Microsoft Web site
• Option 2 (XP Only) : Download and install the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support Tools. One of the tools in this package is netcap.exe. When you run this tool in the first time, the Network Monitor Driver will automatically be installed on your system.

Notice: If WinPcap is installed on your system, and you want to use the Microsoft Network Monitor Driver method, it's recommended to run SmartSniff with /NoCapDriver, because the Microsoft Network Monitor Driver may not work properly when WinPcap is loaded too.

MessenPass is a password recovery tool that reveals the passwords of the following instant messenger applications:

MessenPass can only be used to recover the passwords for the current logged-on user on your local computer, and it only works if you chose the remember your password in one of the above programs. You cannot use this utility for grabbing the passwords of other users.

SysExporter utility allows you to grab the data stored in standard list-views, tree-views, list boxes, combo boxes, text-boxes, and WebBrowser/HTML controls from almost any application running on your system, and export it to text, HTML or XML file.
Here's some examples for data that you can export with SysExporter:

• The files list inside archive file (.zip, .rar, and so on) as displayed by WinZip or 7-Zip File Manager.
• The files list inside a folder.
• The event log of Windows.
• The list of emails and contacts in Outlook Express.
• The Registry values displayed in the right pane of the Registry Editor.
• The data displayed by SysInternals utilities (Registry Monitor, File Monitor, Process Explorer, and others.)
• The text inside a standard message-box of Windows.
• The HTML inside any instance of Internet Explorer.

This free invoice template provides a Fill In The Blank invoice form and is capable of creating and calculating invoices. You can easily create invoice using its true what-you-see-is-what-you-get form.

If you are running a small business and all you need is a quick way or utility to fill up invoices, this one may be the right billing tool for you.

Note: The template is designed in a printable way. To print, simply click Excel menu File->Print. To adjust various print options, such as paper size, paper margins and print quality, just click Excel menu File -> Page Setup.

Excel Invoice Template, a billing software & invoice software based on Excel, provides a Fill In The Blank invoice form and is capable of creating and calculating invoices.

The template shows quantity, description, unit price, taxable status, and amount per line. Sub-total, tax and total amount are computed from the line items automatically.

Pop-up Excel Calendar is an Microsoft® Excel® COM add-in which, when installed, allows you to easily work with dates in Excel workbooks/templates.

Pop-up Excel Calendar displays an in-cell icon button automatically when you click a cell which:

• Has a date format. To set the format of a cell in Excel, right click the cell and choose Format Cells. On the Number tab choose Date in the Category list, and then choose a proper date format in the Type list.
• Has a date value. For example, if a cell is formatted as "General" but has a date-like value "September 1 2006", Pop-up Excel Calendar will display the in-cell icon button when you click the cell.
• Underneath a cell with a date value or format in it.
• Underneath a cell that has some form of the word "date" in it

You can enable or disable the above options respectively in the Settings window.

SHJunction is a small freeware application to manage NTFS virtual folders.

What is a virtual folder?
A virtual folder is sometimes called a junction point or (pseudo) symbolic link. It is a folder that is actually a link to another folder. For example, a person could create a virtual folder called "C:\AFOLDER" that is a link to "E:\ACTUALLY\THIS\FOLDER". In this way, a virtual folder is an alias for another folder.

What use is this?
There are many uses for virtual folders.
One use is to move a folder such as My Documents to another volume (drive) with more available space without having to change the path of the My Documents folder. To do this one would move the My Documents folder to another volume, then create a new virtual folder where the My Documents folder originally was that links to the folder on the other volume.
Another use is to make a long (deep) path into a short one. For example, a virtual folder "C:\SMALLPATH" that links to "C:\SOME REALLY\LONG\PATH".

What if I delete a virtual folder?
One should only remove virtual folders from within SHJunction or a compatible application. Most file managers delete folders recursively, so they will usually delete the 'real' target folder (and/or contained files) along with the virtual folder.

How does this work?
Virtual Folders are actually folders that are NTFS reparse points of the 'mount' type. Introduced in NTFS v5 (Windows 2000), they are file system objects, and therefore will persist even if you uninstall SHJunction or access the volume from a different computer or operating system installation.
The terminology behind reparse points is somewhat convoluted. Junction points, symbolic links, soft links, hard links, and virtual folders are just some of the terms used to refer to different types and applications of NTFS reparse points.
NTFS reparse points are used by the Disk Manager to mount a volume to a subfolder. So with SHJunction you'll see any volumes you have mounted to a subfolder of another volume. SHJunction does not allow you to remove these mount points for safety concerns. You should use the Disk Manager to change how your volumes are mounted.
Reparse points can also be used on files, commonly referred to as hard-links. However, SHJunction does not currently support file reparse points since this is less commonly useful and would complicate use of SHJunction.

So if Windows supports it at the device level, why hasn't Microsoft built reparse point creation into explorer?
Apparently Microsoft believes this technology might cause confusion to the end user.
However, the lack of true explorer support means that reparse point deletion isn't handled as gracefully as it should be and can result in accidental deletion of the 'real' backing folder.
They had planned to add this support to Windows Vista, but have now backed out of that.

The Vista Multimedia Scheduler Configuration Tool (vistammsc) is a small utility to help you configure the multimedia class scheduling service in Windows Vista and above. This software is also included in Process Lasso v3.00 and above.

RegBench is a simple console mode utility to benchmark the Windows registry. It emits output in XML that can be displayed in a human-readable format from within a web browser.

This game can be played by 2 to 6 people. A game of 5 people may not be fair, though. The object of this game is to move all your pieces from your base to the base of the player on your opposite side. There are two ways to move a piece: move to the next empty space; or jump over another piece onto an empty space, multiple jumps can be make consecutively for a single move. If there are X spaces between the jumping piece and the jumped over piece, then the jumping piece must land on X spaces after the jumped over piece. The spaces between the jumping piece and the jumped over piece, and those between the jumped over piece and the landing position must not be occupied by any other pieces. Process Hacker is a tool for viewing and manipulating processes and their threads, modules, memory and handles. It shows system services. It can also search through process memory:

The Windows Updates Downloader was actually created through my long lasting addiction to the MSFN forums. Creating an unattended Windows installation solved the installation portion of the problem but all of the updates needed to be manually downloaded before they could be integrated into the installation source. With the quantity of updates quickly approaching triple digits, it was clear something was needed to speed things up. This is where WUD comes along.

Omziff is a straightforward encryption utility that uses various cryptographic algorithms to encrypt and decrypt textual files. These algorithms include: Blowfish, Cast128, Gost, IDEA, Misty1, AES/Rijndael, and Twofish.

Omziff also generates random passwords, splits files, and does secure file deletion according to DOD Standards. It is freeware, comes in a standalone executable file with no dependencies and is a completely USB portable application!

Why doesn't Omziff use 448 bit keys?
Believe it or not, using a 448-bit encryption key will not necessarily make your sensitive data anymore secure than a using 128 bit key. The formost encryption expert, Bruce Schneier, has written extensively on this and the explanation can be found in his paper, on "cryptographic key length". This is by far, the most comprehensive explanation I have come across to date. There are some other good discussions on basic encryption techniques.

Why can't Omziff integrate itself into the context menu as a shell extension?

In this game you play Tic Tac Toe with another player. The play area is a grid of 3 x 3 spaces. ATPad is not purposed to compete with great names and great editors. Everyone has its own role and function.

Click the Browse button and select the BD-ROM drive letter of your Blu-ray disc or mounted .ISO image. You may also select a folder containing a Blu-ray disc layout.

After a moment, the available .MPLS playlist files will be listed in the Select Playlist(s) window along with the playlist length in hours, minutes, and seconds as well as the combined size in bytes of all the individual files referenced by the playlist.

By default, the playlists are shown in order of length with the longest playlists at the top. In most cases, the topmost playlist will correspond to the main title feature of the disc. However, if there is more than one version of the main title on the disc (ex. separate Theatrical and Unrated cuts of a movie) or additional features such as long-running documentaries, then you may need to lookup the advertised lengths of the titles to determine which playlists you are interested in.

Clicking on different playlists will change the listed Playlist Files and Playlist Streams. Each constituent playlist file also has its length and size displayed while the streams in each file will have their codec, language, bitrate and other pertinent information shown in the description. It is worth noting that examing the stream information for a playlist is another useful way of determining which playlists you are interested in.

Many streams will not have a bitrate displayed - this is because the actual bitrates for these streams cannot be determined without a more thorough scan of the playlist files. A full bitrate scan is performed by clicking the Scan Bitrates button. This operation can take a considerable amount of time! You can reduce the processing time somewhat by placing a checkmark next to only those playlists that you want to have scanned.

You can save the results of the initial playlist scan and full bitrate scan by clicking on the View Report button. From the report screen, click the Copy to Clipboard to copy the report and then paste it into your favorite text editor, word processor or email program.

From the report window, you may also choose to generate display charts of the video bitrate and frame size over time.
The 1-, 5- and 10-Second Window charts show the video bitrate as measured inside overlapping one, five and ten second windows respectively with a one frame offset between each measurement. These results are then aggregated into non-overlapping one second blocks for display with the minimum and maximum bitrate measurements inside the block shown as the light grey shaded area and the average bitrate measurement inside the block shown as a dark grey line.
The Video Frame Size (Min / Max) chart show the video frame size in kilobytes as it varies over time. The Min / Max frame size chart uses the same one-second block aggregation technique as the bitrate window measurements with minimum and maximum frame sizes shown as the light grey shaded area and the average frame size shown as a dark grey line.
The Video Frame Type Counts pie chart shows the count and proportion of I-, P- and B-frames in the selected video track. The Video Frame Type Sizes bar chart shows the measured average and peak frame sizes for each of these frame types.

For the timescale bitrate and frame size charts, hovering over areas in the display will show the time location in total seconds and H:M:S along with the measured value at that location. To inspect areas of time in more detail, you can use the mouse wheel to zoom in/out and the scroll bar at the bottom to move forward and backward in time. Additionally, holding down the mouse button and dragging across the display will select an area to be zoomed when the mouse button is released. The display can be restored to its original position by right-clicking on the chart and selecting Reset Image View. The currently displayed chart can also be saved to a file by right-clicking and selecting Save Image As... or copied to the clipboard by selecting Copy Image to Clipboard.

What is the importance of PGC ripping? Why not just use the ripped vob files unprocessed for conversion. Well, an unprocessed vob file can contain more than you think, it may infact contain the same movie twice, just different versions of it, a directors cut and a theatrical version, all in the same vob set, converting this would give unexpected results. Some movies may play fine, others may play all the way through then the movie may start again from the middle and jump about, many other strange things like that. Lets take a closer look at the region 2 UK release of Independence Day (special edition). This has two different versions of the same movie in the same files. pgc.NET will show you two PGC's, [PGC 01] is 2 hours 27 minutes long and [PGC 02] is 2 hours 18 minutes in length. By playing the movie you'll get a choice of which version you want to watch, special edition or original theatrical release. By the length displayed of these versions you'll know the special edition is the longer [PGC 01] and the normal edition is [PGC 02]. So if you wish to rip the special edition you would choose [PGC 01] in pgc.NET.

So when it comes to converting a movie to AVI, you'll need to have already ripped the correct program chain rather than the original dvd vob set files. pgc.NET used to be able to do this directly from the dvd disk, and in many cases still can, but with the advent of extra anti-copy techniques this is becoming more difficult so pgc.NET will also allow you to process a full dvd folder on your hard drive that you have previous ripped using DVDFab Decrypter, RipIt4Me, or DVD Decrypter and extract the required program chain. This may also prove important for episodic dvd disks that contain multiple episodes per vob set.

pgc.NET is an extremely easy program to use. Click 'Scan' and the dvd disk in your dvd-rom will be scanned. If no dvd is in the dvd-rom, then you'll be presented with a dialog allowing you to choose a previously ripped dvd folder. This folder must contain ripped dvd files in the structure the same as that present on the original dvd. The 'Output' button allows you to choose a folder where you would like to place the ripped vob file. When you're happy with your pgc selection pressing the 'Start' button will start.

pgc.NET, see above picture, is split into three main sections, right-clicking anywhere in the 'pgc.NET' groupbox, bottom left - which contains the web and email links, will give you the option to minimise the program. So to re-cap, scan your dvd or folder, choose your output folder, select your required program chain in the 'dvd.INFO' section, and start. pgci.NET is a .NET application thus requires the latest Microsoft .NET Framework (windows update). pgc.NET is a Windows XP/Vista application.

Because AVS script files are used, avi.NET requires AVISynth to be installed and VobSub also needs to be installed if subtitle support will be required. Finally, either the DivX or XviD (or both) video codecs need to be installed, all of which are available in the .Tools Package (DOWNLOADS section).

avi.NET will allow you to load in both MPEG-1 (VCD) and MPEG-2 (DVD/HDTV) files and convert them to an AVI file. Whether it be DivX or XviD that is chosen as the video codec, the resulting AVI file will be 100% standalone player compatible. It should play in your home dvd avi player just fine.

Using avi.NET is simple, select 'IN' and load in your movie file, usually a VOB or MPG file. The file will 'INDEX' (process will take a couple of minutes) and once completed you'll notice many options have automatically been set and the movie is playing, you can now select 'ADD' to add the job to the batch list.

Once one or more jobs have been added to the job list, the conversion can be started by pressing the 'START' button although further options can be selected or amending depending on your needs. The top three options are refering to the encoding mode; you can use SIZE mode, BITRATE mode, or QUALITY mode. SIZE mode is the most common and will convert you movie to a required size. For movie clips, music videos e.t.c select 'Custom' and input your required size. BITRATE mode will encode using the bitrate shown. QUALITY mode is a single pass quality based mode which uses the chosen quantiser to obtain a fixed quality throughout the encode. Higher numbers are lower quality and vice versa. The required audio track can also be chosen here. Clicking the 'No MP3 Conversion - Keep AC3' will keep the original audio as AC3. Subtitles need to be indexed before they are used which avi.NET will do automatically for you once selected. The 'Forced' option will include/display forced subtitles only and 'Only Make External Subtitles' will create seperate subtitle files rather than 'burn' them into the AVI.

Screen width allows you to select your required width for the final AVI file. When this option is changed the movies aspect ratio is re-calculated to allow the shape to stay correct, slight adjustments can be made by using the height - and + buttons. You can trim the edges of the movie allowing a nice crisp edge, this is important for encoding. The - and + buttons are refering the the amount of cut. When cutting is used, the amount of cut is displayed on the preview window. The 'Decomb Deinterlacing Filter' is needed for movies that are interlaced and display artefacts (jaggies/combing) on screen, which are quite unsightly. A smoothing/sharpening filter is also selectable to allow a slighly smoother or sharper effect to be added to the encode. Higher autocrop changes the threshold to allow more automatic edge removal. Be careful with this on dark movies or clips, it may take too much off and completely destroy the shape (ratio) of the screen, if so, select a lower value and re-load.

Select either the DivX or XviD codec depending on your preference. Advanced encode mode uses different codec settings which in theory delivers a 'better' quality encode, though conversion time is increased. Remove .TEMP removes the temporary files used for the preview/ conversion and I think shutdown PC needs no explaination.

When a movie is previewing you'll see brief but important information displayed. In this screen-shot XVID is refering to the codec selected and SIZE 896MB is refering to the encode mode and size chosen, all of which can be changed if desired. 0.22 is refering to the bits/pixel ratio, try to keep between 0.15 and 0.25. The screen aspect ratio is shown here as 1.74:1 and 640x368 is the current size of the movie being previewed and thus the size of the final conversion. The bottom section of avi.NET contains a slider and time display allowing you to easily preview anywhere in the movie.

Selecting a job in the batch box will display a little pop-up giving brief information for that encode. Right-clicking a selection in the box gives options to allow you to move up, down, and delete the required encode. Also, right-clicking the preview display, and also the information log window displayed during the encode, with give you options to minimise avi.NET. avi.NET is a .NET application thus requires the latest Microsoft .NET Framework (windows update). avi.NET is a Windows XP/Vista application.

And what about cousin's birthday you always forget or important 'phone numbers? Undoubtedly your working place is covered with dusty yellow (or blue, or pink) sticky notes. PNotes (Pinned Notes or Portable Notes, use what you prefer) is written entirely in C and Windows API (with Pelles C for Windows IDE) - so it is fast and light-weight. It has flexible settings - both for the program in whole and for individual note. Skins, fonts, colors, alarms, transparency level - there are all-in-one. Any portion of note's text can be formatted separately.
There is a variety of skins for PNotes and, moreover, you can create your own one if download PNSkinCreator - a small utility for creation PNotes skins. Notes can also be skinless, that allows stretching them to any reasonable size. Scheduling is also important feature of PNotes. It is possible to schedule each note to remind you about significant events by three different ways - alarm you once, every day at specified time or pester you every specified interval.
You may also dock notes to any side of screen (all together or each one separately) and get as result a kind of panel.
One more PNotes feature - ability to join notes into groups by your choice. You can create, modify, delete and relocate groups by simple click or drag-and-drop. Changing group for each note performed by dragging it onto appropriate group.
PNotes is fully Unicode supported and translated into many languages.
And, obviously, it is portable - it leaves no traces in Windows registry and can be started from any drive (fixed or flash) on any computer. Take your notes with you to any location.
